About the Artist |
For Erich Carlson of Presque Isle, Michigan, the fish and wildlife of Michigan and the Midwest define the outdoors and the outdoor lifestyle. When he is not teaching art, Erich is either painting, or trying to find time to spend in the outdoors with his wife Amy and two young boys. Over the last dozen or so years, the majority of his work has been done on the unique and challenging canvas of feathers from various sub-species of the Wild Turkey. His beautifully rendered, original acrylic paintings are double matted in top quality suede and then individually framed in his handcrafted cedar and birch frames. The majority of Erich's art is made from materials harvested from nature including the feathers, birch bark, cedar, and the occasional shed deer antler. He has done work for various chapters of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Whitetails Unlimited, Quality Deer Management, and many others. Erich would be be happy to meet your needs with a custom painting or a hand crafted frame made just for you.
